HOUSING MEETING
*Free and open to the public.

Kansas City, Missouri residents have one more chance to help formulate the City’s Five Year Housing Policy during the last of four city-wide planning meetings. The final Housing Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center located at 825 Euclid Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64124.

“We really encourage public involvement so citizens can help city leaders determine current and future citywide housing needs,” said John A. Wood, Assistant City Manager and Director of the city’s Neighborhoods & Housing Services Department (NHSD).

Important issues impacting the future of housing and neighborhood stability in Kansas City include rising housing costs, numerous vacant and abandoned properties, as well as the threat of reduced funding resources.  Join us and help formulate Kansas City’s Five Year Housing Policy and discuss current as well as future city-wide housing issues.

KEY QUESTIONS:
What is the most critical housing issue facing Kansas City?

As federal and state funding for housing and neighborhood assistance becomes more scarce, what other resources should the City of Kansas City and it’s community partners seek to help with these issues?

How can banks, philanthropic foundations and agencies, such as the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority, help the issue and play a greater role?

Attracting new residents back into older urban neighborhoods and also helping current homeowners and residents afford to remain in their homes are important objectives.  What strategies can the City of Kansas city and it’s community development partners employ to help attract new residents while assisting existing residents?

What can Kansas City do to ensure that all residents – renters as well as homeowners – are living in environmentally safe, clean and healthy housing?
