Visions of Repurposing the Kessler Park Reservoir

The Kansas City Design Center(KCDC) invites you to join us for our Kessler Park Water Reservoir vision study Public Meeting at the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, February 22nd. The KCDC is a non-profit, academic, urban design studio focused on promoting design excellence in the KC area; the goal of this project is to create a community centered design vision study for the repurposing of the abandoned water reservoir into a public space. The purpose of this public meeting is to garner feedback from community members and residents on preliminary design detail studies and programming options for the reservoir. For those that cannot attend in person, there is an option to view the presentation and provide feedback online. More details about the meeting can be found here.

This project is being conducted in partnership with the Pendleton Heights neighborhood and KCMO Parks & Recreation and follows up on a 2014-15 study that the KCDC completed focused on Kessler Park which provided a preliminary idea of the possibility of utilizing the reservoir. The current vision study will be completed in May 2022 and we hope that it will provide a guide for potential public realm improvements of the reservoir, transforming it into an amenity for the surrounding neighborhoods.

We hope to see you at the meeting, for any questions, please reach out to KCDC Director of Operations & Outreach, Mariah Randell at mrandell@kcdesigncenter.org.
