Our guest speaker is Bob Theis CPA, BA, MA
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Bob Theis is the Chief Executive Officer for Sam Rodgers. Bob Theis has been part of the Sam Rodgers family since 2006. As Chief Operating Officer, he works diligently with the leadership team and Board of Directors to develop meaningful partnerships in the community for the continued growth of the Health Center. He believes strongly in providing clear guidance and support to all Sam Rodgers employees so they are able to do their best work, and thus, is focused on finding ongoing solutions for eliminating the barriers to healthcare from both the patient and employee perspectives.
Bob has a favorite quote he shares with his staff, from Lily Tomlin: “The road to success is always under construction.” He shares that helping Sam Rodgers constantly improve is key to his role. “There’s always a new challenge around the corner and we’re always looking for a better way to do something.”
Although he spends much of his day focusing on organizational oversight and finances, “numbers aren’t the only thing I deal with,” Bob says. “I love the patients we serve. When a kid runs up and gives me a high five, that’s the best.” He is also passionate about the mission of Rodgers Health. “I believe in Dr. Rodgers’ basic reason for creating this: to make people’s lives better.”
Bob has held several roles at Sam Rodgers, including Controller, Chief Financial Officer, as well as additional Acting Chief Executive Officer responsibilities. His work prior to the Health Center included auditing, consulting to CPA firms and accounting at several health care facilities. “I feel like my whole life led me here,” Bob says. In 2010, Bob received the Chief Financial Officer of the Year Award for Small Nonprofit Organizations from the Kansas City Business Journal. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the University of Kansas, and his Master’s in Accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
