FREE Neighborhoood Advocate Training

In lue of a January Historic NorthEast R-EX meeting at the NEKC Chamber we encourage you to attend this Training Session at the KC Public Library-Central, 14 W. 10th Street KCMO 64105, Room 312. Flyer is below.

This letter is from Ingrid Burnett, Past Mo Representitive Discrict 19.

Dear Neighborhood Leaders,

As part of our work identifying neighborhood priorities for responding to the consequences of insecure and lack of supportive housing in the Historic Northeast, an issue came up regarding how to best advocate for our neighborhoods and for supporting those living among us who are currently unhoused. To that end, Dr. Williamson and I had a very useful meeting with Kate Schulte who also works with HouseKC, another collaborative organization working to implement and advance the ZeroKC plan and better service delivery to those who are currently living in inadequate shelter conditions.

On January 5, HouseKC will be providing some training on advocacy practices and organizing. I believe we will be most successful in addressing the priorities we identified through our Northeast Working Group meetings and community forums if we combine our advocacy efforts with others who are also advocating for a better response from our city and service providers, and I would like to encourage each neighborhood association, agency, and chamber to be represented at this event to keep our focus unified in our messaging and to carry this information back to your constituents.

Please see the attached flyer for more information. I hope I see you there!

Yours in service,

Ingrid Burnett
